    A Flower In Disguise

    by: Patricia Minicozzi

A dandelion, which by far, describes a well known weed,
to a child, bringing love, fulfills the greatest need.
Held so tightly in his hand, he holds his treasure dear,
his heart is beating, oh so fast, his destinations near.
His mother greets him, with a smile, his dirty hand, held high,
the dandelions, wilting, could almost make her cry.
She puts her flowers, in a vase, and turns to him, with love,
"I'm thankful for my little one," she tells the Lord above.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
