    AMERICA STRIKES BACK

    October 7. 2001
    that is the day
    the Air Strikes begun.

    The United States struck,
    at eleven forty-five.
    Letting the Taliban know,
    America's very much alive.

    The surprise was momentous,
    the Taliban caught off guard.
    Americans and the British,
    hitting Afghanistan hard.

    Osama Bin Laden,
    his henchmen alike.
    were very up-set,
    being awaken at night.

    They have threathened a Jihad,
    a Holy war at best.
Now all they have to do,
    is convince the rest.

    The need for this war,
    brought on by terrorist.
    The Taliban and Al Quaida,
    on top of the list.

    This the first day,
    America strikes back.
    A day the world witnessed,
    America's first attack.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
