Poem Commentary

Wrote for my grandfather for his funeral after he died 54 days after grandma he was healthy for is age but had hip surgery and lost his will because he missed her! He was a grumpy old man with a heart of gold and work ethics like a sodier he once was, I don't know if I will ever know a man I respected more than him, He was stern but there are so many rude people in this world that have not done anything for anyone seflessly, and he did everything for everyone. Thanks for reading and letting me share.

A FEW GOOD MEN

AS I STAND HERE TODAY THINKING ALL WEEK OF WHAT TO SAY, NOTHING  I WROTE CAME OUT THE RIGHT WAY,
.ALL I KNOW IS THIS TIME I WANTED YOU HEAR, SO  I PROMISE YOU GRANDPA TO SPEAK LOUD AND CLEAR,.
I REMEBERED THAT THE ONLY WAY THAT I CAN START IS MAKING SURE ITS FROM MY HEART.
I NEEDED THIS TO BE MY BEST  BEFORE THEY  PUT YOU DOWN TO REST

. I  KNEW I COULD NOT WALK AWAY ,BEFORE I TOLD YOU IM SORRY I WAITED TILL THIS DAY.TO SAY HOW PROUD I WAS TO BE YOUR GRANDAUGHTER, TO SAY IT PERFECT WITHOUT ANY  FALTER .

MY PROUDEST MOMENTS OF YOU, IS WHEN GRANDMA MEMORIES WERE NOT COMING THROUGH,
THE HURT YOU HAD TO ENDURE, AND THERE WAS  NOT EVEN A CURE,

YOU SAID SO SURE  WITH LOVE SO PURE  SHE IS MY WIFE AND ILL TAKE CARE OF HER,.
YOU FOLLOWED THROUGH EVERY LIFES FIGHT AND DID WHAT WAS RIGHT

.YES YOU HAD A MILITARY ATTITUDE, BUT WE SHOULD ALL GIVE YOU ARE UPMOST GRATITUDE,
SINCE YOU FAUGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY IN THE MARINE CORE AND MADE  IT HOME THROUGH  2  MAJOR WARS,
AT TIMES YOU DID PUT US THROUGH THE MILL OR MAYBE IT WAS YOUR OWN PERSONAL DRILL!.
ONE OF THE ONLY MEN I EVER KNOWN THAT HAD WHAT IT TOOK TO GO BY THE BOOK!
EVEN SOMETIMES I  COMPLAINED ABOUT YOU BEING SO STERN THAT IS A TRAIGHT YOU DEFINATELY EARNED!
YOU JUST WANTED US TO LEARN, NOT TO TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANITE BECAUSE ONE DAY WE WILL LEAVE THIS PLANET ,
BUT WHEN I THINK OF THE PAST AND HOW YOU MADE ME LAUGH, LIKE WHEN I WAS YOUNG AND A LITTLE NERVOUS WHEN I  TOLD YOU I WAS GOING IN THE SERVICE
,AS YOU AND GRANDMA DESERVINGLY LAUGHED, YOU LOOKED AT ME AND  SAID, NO STOPPING TO FIX YOUR MAKEUP YOU MIGHT END UP DEAD!
IT WAS SO FUNNY, AND TRUE, AND I OWE MY LIFE TO YOU!
AND WHEN I WAS REALLY LITTLE I LOVE TO HELP YOU GAVE ME A JOB UNIQUALLY DEALT,
TO TAKE OFF YOUR COWBOY BOOTS I REMEMBER IT WAS SO FUNNY BUT A CHORE BECAUSE GETTING THEM OFF ID FLY TO THE FLOOR
.IT WAS ALWAYS MY LUCK WHEN YOU LAUGHED AND SAID SORRY THEY WERE STUCK,.
I RELISHED THE FUN TIMES GOING OUT TO DINNER
YOU DID ON PURPOSE TO BE OVER ZEALOUS AND TRY TO GET GRANDMA A LITTLE JEALOUS,
THERE WOULD BE A CUTE WAITRESS, AND WITH YOUR FUN SENSE OF HUMOUR WOULD ACT LIKE SUCH A HAM, I KNEW IT WAS JUST PART OF YOUR PLAN,

AND WHEN GRANDMA WOULD GIVE YOU THE LIFT OF THAT BROW, YOU WOULD BLAME THE POOR WAITRESS, AND SAY ' OH NO HERE SHE COMES NOW!'

GRANDMA NEW YOU WERE JUST HAVING FUN, AND THAT SHE WAS ALWAYS YOUR NUMBER 1.

AND THAT IS SOME OF THE REASON WE ARE ALL HERE TODAY, ITS ACTUALLY MORE BEAUTIFUL  THAN ANY MOONLIT  BAY,

AND MY GRANDPA WAS SO LOST WITHOUT HER HERE,AND EVERY WORD OF HER HE SHED A TEAR,

KNOW THE FEELING HE HAD, SO MUCH WORSE THAN SAD, ITS ALMOST LIKE A HOLE RIGHT THROUGH YOUR SOUL,

THAT NOTHING EVER CAN  REFILL, AND THAT IS WHY HE LOST HIS WILL,

I BELIEVE GOD KNOWS WHEN WE CAN LIVE ON WITH HIS GRACE AND THERE IS SOME THINGS JUST TO HARD TO FACE,

AND  I KNOW IN MY HEART YOUR IN THE RIGHT PLACE,.

I TRUST IN GOD, I KNOW HE DID WHAT WAS BEST TO PUT YOU AT  YOUR FINAL REST.

AND WE CAN ALWAYS JUST REMEMBER WHEN,TILL THE DAY WE MEET AGAIN! YOU WERE ONE OF THE FEW GOOD MEN!

                                                                                                                                                  I LOVE YOU GRANDPA
