Your Heart
Your Heart
The fog lay heavy in the air,
Even the most familiar things
Were invisible.
Fear and apprehension loomed
Like clouds blocking all the light.
Darkness had come
As an unwelcome visitor
Refusing to leave.
Hollow noises made their way
To the depths of my soul,
Obstructing all who tried to reach me.
The search began without hope.
Looking in all corners for the light,
Clutching at false promises to find it.
A glimmer came,
It was unfamiliar,
Nothing I had ever seen,
But somehow knew it was a worthy visitor.
One that I could hear, feel, even touch.
No boldness surrounded it,
Yet it commanded attention.
It had to make itself known to me.
I was afraid, but the warmth
Drew me in.
As I embraced this light,
The fog seemed to lift,
The clouds were not as imposing.
I tried to turn from it,
But it held me.
I could sense its truth,
The calm air it breathed into my soul,
Pushing back the noises
So they were no longer heard.
The glimmer became a ray,
Illuminating my senses,
Igniting hope within me
Allowing a freedom to move closer,
And then a vision appeared.
It was a heart
Full of strength and peace,
It was your heart
Reaching out
To meet
Mine.
