Ode to the Graduate

Our most credible asset is our experience

so, from mine I say to you

set your sights on your goals, and never lose focus

Keep hope locked deep within you, and call upon it often

Hold onto your dreams, have faith that they will come true

Believe in yourself, not what others say about you

Listen only to those who love you, for they have your best interest at heart

Watch people closely, only follow the examples of those you respect

Always be aware of what you have, not what you don’t

 and appreciate any good fortune

Do not take time for granted, then life will be a series of accomplishments

Realize that this is a crucial period, the decisions of today

are tomorrow’s realties

Above all else, pay attention to that voice inside of you

it is a gift from God, acting as a compass

guiding your safe passage into the future
