You Don't Need Eyes To See

Being blind does not always mean,
That all these things are not unseen.

For what we have, as far as sight,
Their touch and smell is at its height.

They're hearing things we've never heard,
And seeing objects with our words.

So please think twice before you say,
It's sad they can't see another day.

For what they lack as far as sight,
Other senses are brought to a higher height.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
