    Without A Wake

    Taken, robbed from breaths, in deep slumber in
    Which dark dreams pursue you no more, sleep;
    Vast, deserted; an infinite silence.
    Terrain of abysmal indifference, No destination;
    hidden, trapped in a Endless emotion of apathy with A futile surrender; forsaken by Vitality.
    Detached from sympathy;
    Unprejudiced, swift, mindless such as a Predator,
    with a vice grip, handling Its victims.
    Cries of yearning for the loss Of warmth,
    life seeks no more, colorless veins
    Time unaltered soon forgets the breath of Life;
    vague, centuries of forgotten pasts.

    Whew! This poem reeks of desolation. You have created a tone and mood of extreme somber futility. The words are so well put together. Many fresh phrases of power, including the last: "centuries of forgotten pasts." I like how you pluralized past, bringin in the truth that we each have our own past; and the centuries cover the pasts of individuals. // Almost every line has a fresh uniqueness of expression. I like "Terrain of abysmal indifference." The words apathy, silence, etc., create the tone of nothingness; yet there is feeling struggling through i the line "Cries of yearning for the loss of warmth..." // This is a poem that I must think about. It is rich with possible interpretations. I should say, on the surface, it may be about someone who died suddenly. But the words and phrases are special, and the feelings stirred up by the whole spell cast by this poem are beyond the dictionary definitions of any of the words. // I rate it a 10. --Michael LP, Mr. Poet

    In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
