To a Bosom Friend
I am relieved; beyond elated to know you.
To know that I am not alone,
to know you feel the same,
to know you understand.
Understand this stage in life;
I confess, I am always slightly terrified
that you will go into a stage
I will never be able to follow.
It seems, I eventually do...
follow, in my own way.
I am overcome with joy to know you;
yet, overwhelmed with sorrow
at the thought of countless of people
never having someone like you;
their own personal comfort.
A bosom friend.
