Why Pray

Why Pray

You ask since I know everything, why would I want you to pray?
In the garden I spent time with mankind, in the cool of the day.

He didn't want for anything everything was within his reach.
We would sit conversing, he would listen, I would teach.

He named every living creature though the power of spoken word.
A Blessing I still have yet to take back are you listening have you heard?

He spoke into each its character, its' ways, its' nature too!
Realize with this awesome gift the things you've spoke into you.

And!  Know it’s not good to be alone I knew that from the start.
So I created for him, from him, his rib; some might say his split-apart.

I said the two shall become as one for it is their destiny.
Just as it has always been my plan to redeem you back to me.

There was no mystery about your weaknesses nor if mankind would fall.
Yet still through my infinite wisdom I gave you dominion over all.

I've placed you above everything for you my son did die.
I want a personal relationship how dare you ask me "Why?"

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
