    Who Would Have Known

What happened to the day when I craved your smile?
Innocence flowing like the river into the Nile
Once upon a time I thought you were the one
When my heart skipped a beat and words slipped off my tongue
Those were the days when we strolled through the park
Not caring if the sun slipped into the dark
Days when you stole my heart and made it into new
The days when I craved you
    The days when I knew
    You were the one
    But then it stung
Like the bite of a snake
Who knew my heart you would break?
If I could only take back that day
When my body was at bay
    A temple to your throne
    Who would have known?
    But then it was shown
    and then it was known
That your son had taken my body for his own
And as for the thief who slipped away into the night
    His father was never known
    Nowhere in sight

This is a good poem but sad all at the same time. I enjoyed reading it. You have a unique way of expressing yourself

    nicely done

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
