    When I Was Young

    Once I had a pirate ship
    that sailed upon the sea;
    but now that I look back
    perhaps it was a fallen tree.

    Once I had a fancy sports car,
    every race I'd win.
    But looking back again,
    I guess it was a one-speed Schwinn.

    Once I had a golden steed
    that took me far away;
    now I think it was a saddle
    on a bale of hay.

    I used to see a fairyland
    where twinkling pixies flew;
    but maybe they were fireflies
    above the gathering dew.

    Years ago, when I was young
    adventures I would find.
    As I explored the world,
    imagination fueled my mind.

    Somewhere through the years
    I lost that magic quality;
    now I see things as they are
    and not as they could be.

    To fill my life with vision
    has become my solemn goal,
    and once again I'll find
    that little child in my soul.

    I'd swear we grew up in the same neighbohood, and actually played together. I had a pirate ship made of fallen trees, I had a one speed, high handle bar, banana seat bicycle ( great for popping wheelies) This brought back wonderful memories....Smile.... TS

    Another awesome read dear Celly and no....I don't think you ever lost that little child in your soul....your writing reflects the magic of youth yet the wisdom that comes with age. You get to have it all...and that aint easy! LOL! Thanks again, wonderful! Love, MOI! :)
