Whatever happened to Sunday?
Like fading memories dangling in obscurity
I wondered 'whatever happened to Sunday?
Oblivious to pain and surrounded by delusions of contentment
For joy
This day embodied my soul
But then came Monday
Stealing away in the night
Bringing with it the faint taste of blood upon it's lips
Shallow harlot of the week's beginning
Tainted by the heartache yet to be
Rebuked
Whatever happened to Sunday?
And then without notice
Tuesday presented itself
And proclaimed triumphant misery
Covered with the blood of the innocent
Tarnished with the infidelity of Monday
The battle ensued
Wild dogs howled to the earth the hurt that bellowed within
Snarling at my existence and testing my faith
Succumbing to the inevitability that my week has just begun
And I wondered
Whatever happened to Sunday……….
The day when I smiled.
I wondered 'whatever happened to Sunday?
Oblivious to pain and surrounded by delusions of contentment
For joy
This day embodied my soul
But then came Monday
Stealing away in the night
Bringing with it the faint taste of blood upon it's lips
Shallow harlot of the week's beginning
Tainted by the heartache yet to be
Rebuked
Whatever happened to Sunday?
And then without notice
Tuesday presented itself
And proclaimed triumphant misery
Covered with the blood of the innocent
Tarnished with the infidelity of Monday
The battle ensued
Wild dogs howled to the earth the hurt that bellowed within
Snarling at my existence and testing my faith
Succumbing to the inevitability that my week has just begun
And I wondered
Whatever happened to Sunday……….
The day when I smiled.
