    We Lost it Didn't We?

There was a time when we couldn't wait to be together
There was a time when we couldn't wait to hold each other
There was a time when I loved you and you loved me
But I found my heart broken and yours Unspoken
I gave you all my love, You gave me all your excuses
I gave you children and you gave me silence
I gave you freedom and you gave me an ultimatum
Your time was never my time and my time was spent-
Waiting for you to love me, Waiting on you to want me, Waiting on you to need me. Now, As I pick up the pieces of my life, so much time wasted...I can't tell today from tomorrow and tomorrow from yesterday, and finally from out of the darkness and into the light I have come to realize, We lost it didn't We? Time, Faith, Love and Hope- As with any bad bet, lost it all didn't we!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
