Been rejected
been turned away.
Why did it have to go this way?

I liked him so much,
but he didn't like me.
Or maybe he just couldn't see.

I was pretty sure that he was mine,
or at least he was supposed to be.
Maybe he can't look past his greed.

I've seen it all,
or so I thought.
But there's still more lessons to be taught.

There's a voice inside,
that says the pain will subside.
But there's still more tears to be shed and dried.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
