~Unrecognizable~

Do I know you?
Do I know the face behind this mask?
How am I supposed to know?
You've been lost for so long..
I barely recognize the face
Staring back at me from the mirror

Is it really you?
Or is this just another illusion?
How can I tell?
I've been tricked so many times
I hope it isn't a trick this time
I just hope

But how am I supposed to tell?
I guess I'll never know
You've been lost for so long..
that I'll never be able to recall
Just wgo is staring back at me in the mirror

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
