this too shall pass

this too shall pass

As i start to pick up the pieces
off of this floor
i remember a saying
i cant quite recall
this simple yet deep thought
passed down to me from a friend long ago
i recall the fight that started it
it ended with this glass
broken on this dusty floor
cant quite find a soothing thought
until i remember
this simply deep thought
"this to shall pass"
the words echo through my head
it causes an eerie comforting vibe
i pause
i am no longer upset
mad
sad
fearful
because this simple thought
made me see through this hard time
into the brightness of the sun
now anytime i come across a barrier
i remember that simplistic thought
"this too shall pass"
and everything gets better.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
