    Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem while I was in history class. It's about a good friends of mine who I really like, but I am afraid of telling them how I feel.

    Unknown Love

I know you do not notice me,
at least not in that way,
but I notice you like that,
    every single day.
I've never felt this way before
    and it's really scaring me.
    You already have my heart,
but how do I give you the key?
If I tried to give it to you
    what would you do?
    Would you gladly accept it,
    or would you outright refuse?
    I'd rather have your friendship
than not have you at all,
so I will not tell you how I feel
for fear that I might fall.

Excellent description of how love can create so much doubt and worry inside of us.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
