Two

Sunshine
dappled
against your face
twinkling eyes
wrinkles of years
flown by
Peace beyond
matter
hearts locked
in blessed
old age
Gnarled hands
bent bodies
shrinking minds
a life together
perfect unison
in a sanctaury
of sameness
no longer new
but
still in
mind
body
soul
each other
the other
for a span
for a lifetime
encircling the two.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
