Mountain Flower

Mountain Flower

If I were a mountain flower
that wanted to fly free
I would not
wither from within
if I lost my earthly binds
I would ask the wind
to carry me
to the heavens above
and dance with
the angels there
and beg to be transformed into one of them
To distant shores I'd fly
and see all that I could see
and touch all that I could touch
and feel the beauty all around
and my soul would flourish
with joy and passion
and when I've had my fill and
tire of my wings
maybe you'll still be around
to catch me
as I fall
and nurture me with love
until my feet touch the ground
I'd sink my toes
into the earth
and find peace
in being
still.

Beautiful! The longing to fly with total freedom, coupled with the security of knowing we have a safe place to fall...I think this sums up the essence of what we all desire and need to have a happy life. Nicely done!

I find this to be an excellent poem Raychile - I love the imaginery flow - that you connected into a real understanding of where this mountain flower would travel...I loved it...trying to reach poets from all around the world... KD

Thanks David. I'm glad you like it. I'll post more. This is my first post and first time here. It's good to know, someone likes my poem. I don't have anyone here at home to let me know how I do.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
