To Much and Not Enough

To Much and Not Enough

As the hurt and my tears begin to decrease
and my vision becomes undistorted
through the eyes once shut I see harsh truths
like a movie which starts me and ends with you

pride will love you from a far and forget your existence
shame will hold me your hostage and remind me I didn't listen
so alone yet surrounded by the dreaded truth
curse the day I sit and cried for you

you love me to much yet not enough to hold me dear
you love me to much yet not enough to erase my fear
to leave me lost and alone I rot from grief
time is as glass once broken so selfishly

I gave myself to let you in and you ran away with my heart
like a thief in the night, never giving it a second thought
through the hurt I will pray that this rain will finally end
and when the sun arise, I'll take back my heart again

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
