thoughts of children

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of him very odd
If Scripture now the class recites
It violates the bill of rights
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a federal matter now
we're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks
And peirce our noses, tongues and cheeks
They've outlawed guns but first the Bible
To quote the Good Book makes me liable
We can get our condoms, and birth control
Study witchcraft and totem poles
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed
No word of God must reach this crowd
Its scary here i must confess
When chaos reigns the schools a mess
So Lord this silent plea i make
Should I be shot ,my soul please take

Amen to your poem but God knows all these things would come to pass. We are just one day closers to our eternal home now.

i really liked this...for the implications of our society now..its a sad world when we are not allowed to be christians, and another faith seems to be reveared above all others..i bet if we were to visit heaven, and be able to return,we might be smilin

good job, enjoyed

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
