The Term 'Urban'(Work In Progress)

According to the Dictionary the word "Urban" means city or residing in a city.
What a sugar coated term to use for us its not fair at all
From the sun rise licking our faces until night fall
The street lights would call us in
We played in shattered glass alleys and messed with the winos
We'd lay in lush brown grass and watched the clouds because we never really had money for the movies

"Urban" Ghetto that's what they called us
When we slept our lullaby's were police sirens and trains screams and bangs
Graffiti tags caressed the bus way walls so I'd walk slow to take it all in but my mom grabbed my hand and told me to hurry so we didn't miss the bus again..
I'd always get the window seat because I wanted to she the other side of the game

"The burbs" for lack of a better word
I loved this escapade that happened about once every other week
The modern day renaissance
Since we lived on the main drag we'd dance for the cars when they were at the red light and sometimes we could get a dollar or two out of them
Then hop the fence in the back alley to collect crab apples and throw em at each other like they were snow
Then rundown to the corner store to get 25 cent icee cups
