Poem Commentary

This is a poem that i wrote in 9th grade when i started writing again:) Im in 11th grade now

Listen Up!(Old)

Nothing is Promised they told us we would get our 40 acres and a mule and never got it

Shot us, Dropped us, Tried to stop us

We never bothered..

We self destructed as a race at an alarming pace That didn't bother

Or how they seen you as a race stand on the corner and the stereotype

That all black brothers are the same..

But that's a name, stereotype, and label

You hear this lets rise above and beat this statistic

We need to unite, gain knowledge, and to fight against this

Lets start and prove them wrong today

Start by pulling your pants up and caring about your grades

We need to stop worrying about busting 9's and Gats

But on school where knowledge is power and money don't forget that

"United we stand and divided we fall"

Life is the hoop here is the ball...

Life is a game make the play

Its time to make a change today
