    The Room Stands Still

The room is quiet, the bad lays still
The electronics are all turned off, the man sits by his window still
Peering into darkness, he sees his life as a whole
He leans back and thinks about how relationships take their toll
The touch is gone, now he sits alone
He turns off the TV and listens closely for the phone
He takes a shot of vodka, it helps when he’s depressed
He thinks about sleep but he’s already had too much rest
He pulls out his cell and reads her last text
He lets the bottle go his sins he’s now confessed
Bitter in vain he knows all too well this game
He thought he’d be over her quick now he may never be the same
Too involved he had become which is fine for some
But when it all comes apart its no longer any fun
Deep in his mind his thoughts rest, tired with exhaust
He wouldn’t have invested his heart if he know how much it would cost
Now he sits in silence, will life return please?
He thought love was a gift now he sees it as a disease
And it’s contagious as they come and drained his life of all it’s fun
He throws the phone to the ground and the phone gets up and runs
Misery hates company and that hurts to know
He stands up and thinks of her and now its time to go
For as bad as love was, a truth he now sees
Love was a lot of things, but love was not misery
Clinch his fist or try to get one last kiss
He knows he’s making a mistake but what could be worse than this?
He exits the room, no plan, just a sign
As he walks down the stairs he knows everything will be fine.

This is very well written, dark it seems to play out in my mind in black in white. Your very talented.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
