THE NEED TO CHANGE
When I look at your face I see hidden pain and bitterness. For the way you grew up was not ideal.
An alcoholic mom and an absent father.
Are you truly to blame for your actions?
You don't know why you act as you do.
With harsh words and unforgettable actions.
But in your state of blackness it's her name you speak.
She will never change, but you can.
Thru her life of pity and self loathing sat a child not knowing how to cope.
You now have a family of your own.
You can step up and be the father you never had.
Everything needs to be forgiven.
Your mother, your father and yourself.
You can't change the past, you can only go forward.
Rise above the disease.
Don't be a statistic.
Learn to love yourself.
Only then will you see yourself for who you really are.
