    The Misguided One

There was a time when I had an innocent mind
When the truth was known and it was easy to find
Aging through bombardments of adopted belief
I've grown to this point where I'm praying for relief
And I can't make myself believe in what they say
They tell me I'm wrong for creating my own way
I don't need a leader while I'm under the sun
Because I will do as I do... until I'm done
    As the misguided one

They told me I was blind and they could help me see
So they victimized my mind with their sympathy
Keeping me down on the ground where I felt alone
The true caring hands would help me stand on my own
A scare tactic gimmick where their faith is for sale
No creator of love would ever create a hell
No need to follow me when we share the same sun
Because I will do as I do until I'm done
    As the misguided one

I cast no blame while transcending from this level
My choices are mine not put off on some devil
I only want to be Human; to breathe and live
I won't take from the hate but the love I will give
Divine thought is that of Divine understanding
Just open your heart, your mind and stop demanding
If I ever cross you while under the same sun
I will wish you well, as you do, until you're done
    As the misguided one.

Quite a strong piece of work I like it

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
