    The Love Around Us

How much love can one heart hold,
When true love has no boundaries.
How much warmth can one man feel,
From a glance of big, blue eyes.
How much happiness is one allowed,
With so much hurt in the world.
How much weight can be lifted,
With the sound of just one word.
How many times can one feel meaning,
From spoken words and not tire.
How much trust can two people build,
    Over years of helpless desire.
How much pride can one man contain,
In the presence of his family.
These are just seven more wonders,
Of this world, present but taken lightly.
We may never know how to measure love,
    Only know that it exists.
My love for you grows more with each day,
And some how it just fits.
I’m no expert in this field and,
    Just dabble with the notion.
But I do know that in your presence,
My heart and soul take motion.

This is a very good poem!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
