The Future

The world has died,
We knew it would
But we didn't try and save it
Like we knew we could

It was consumed by flames
Everything destroyed
We first thought it was a war
And all our troops were deployed

People died
Gone out like a light
No one quite knew why
And they were filled with fright

There was too much chaos
Too much confusion
People went crazy
All from delusion

Buildings crashed,
Crashed to the ground
It was what we all feared
The armaggedon was all around

Now our world is destroyed
Not one person made it through
Well of course i did
But don't be scared because it's true

It's all over now
Nothing left to fight
Well not for another million years
But thatls enough to make things right

Earth does not exist anymore
It's just a cloud of gas
Nothing but me is around
Eventually i wont be here, all will pass

What will become
Of this universe when i leave?
What will happen?
What can i believe?

All is done and gone
Vanished out of sight
It was like it was never there
I will avenge the dead with all my might

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
