    The Carnival's Folly

    A Carnival's Folly

The wonderful smells and cheerful cries
The brilliant lights color the skies
Around each turn a chance for joy
good for all; girls and boys

Play the games, ride the rides
eat tasty treats and toss pies
Follow your heart till it's content
    cries the jewel coated gent

    -Chorus-

But there's something about this place
It's too good to be true
    Makes me really wonder
if it's good for me or you

What if we're blinded by the bright lights
Our days swallowed by our nights
    Reality blurred by fantasy
How could that be good for you or me

The jeweled man says, "Fret ye not"
A comforting arm unarms the plot
Carried away by the alluring screams
Smiles like this, found only, in our dreams

So many things to taste or feel
The jeweled man says, "This is real"
With a sly look he says, "I'm here for you"
With starry eyes you sense this is true

From high above and deep within
Your starry eyes see truth again
    The jeweled man becomes obsene
He understands, now, that you're seein'

He tries to grab you as you flee
You kick and scream to be free
He curses you, spits at you-Anything to stop this rescue
