That's, That

That's, That

That's,That

In a darkened wind that, coldly, blew
It's haunting breath, would ever hold you
Numbed by it's heartless hope
Elevated, is how you chose to cope

A flourescent sun would light your ways
Illuminating fake, sunshiny days
Even, yet, you always seemed to give
You fooled us all, who could know you'd die to live

They could never know you like that
You hid behind your smile too well for that
What i wouldn't give to have known all that
Well, we loved you and that's, that

Distorted views on the meaning of life
A traded high for the love of your wife
Alone again, you couldn't stand a chance
Greater winds took you to a darker dance

It's howling tune, moved you deeper in
A whistling torment sang again, again
Yet, you were known for how you blessed
So many souls would gladly attest

-chorus-

My childlike eyes, saw you perfect and pure
Too young to see all that you'd endured
As you hugged me, a calm hugged you
A sweet respite, a moment of love true

Blinded by my selfish heart
On Christmas day as we did part
That your final words "I love you, guy"
Should have made this teenage son cry

Two years since , I never saw you, we never spoke
The stormy winds would squeeze it's final choke
