The Black Queen Pt. 1
We come in all colors, shapes and sizes
but one thing's for sure, we have no disguises.
We don't hide behind sheets or our humble black men
we stand on our own, because we're black women.
We do for ourselves, our families and lovers,
we do for our people; we stand by each other.
We are a rare species, we're one of a kind
we are beautiful in soul, body and mind.
We are smart, intelligent and depend on no one
we strive to be role models for our daughters and sons.
Black, yellow or caramel brown skin
our beauty on the outside shines from within.
Short hair, long hair or locks hanging down
it doesn't matter what we look like; we'll always be around.
It doesn't matter where we come from--The Nile or The Hood
no matter what we do or who we become, we'll always be good.
Wherever we go, we'll always be seen
whatever we become, we'll always be....
