Take the Hand of Salvation
Fears
Come crashing down in my world
Worry
A swirl of emotions
Take away my breath
Where am I
Who am I
A sea of anguish
Comes to finish me off
Suddenly
A beakon of light
Shimmers across my face
Flashlight
Life boat
A chance for salvation
Free
The man in the boat
Looks at me gently
"Grab my hand!"
He bellows
So simple
So carefree
This man
Must reside with angels
He is too good for me
Sinking further into death
I find myself refusing his help
Not worthy of such love
Deserving of death
This man is omnipotent
He will not let me die
He is omniscient
He will not let me sink
"Your choice! Grab my hand!"
Repeating over again
He can rescue me
But I cannot breathe
The water has swollen my lips shut
Underwater torture
All light is gone
Darkness forever to stay
I try to cry out
Attempt to swim away
Something has a hold on me
Dragging me further astray
Down and down I go
Each attempt a failure
Why did I not simply grab the hand
He was there
Salvation
Where did it go wrong
It was me
His hand I never took
I held on to my own righteousness
I thought it was all it took
Death has won the victory
Christ still stands today
Emotions all around
Each day scream for my attention
Fear
Pain
Anguish
Reality
Jesus
Stands in front of me
Begging for me to accept His hand
I cannot live my life alone
I need His loving plan
My righteousness will never get me through
I need the light that Jesus shines
The light so bright and true
So take the simple soultion
Grab a hold of His hand
He will never leave thee
Nor forsake thee
But losing yourself
Is His command
For salvation from self
Escape from death
Accept Christ as Savior
Or forever in darkness
You shall stay
No other name
But Jesus
He is the potter
You are the clay
Trust the hand of the Maker
Lay all care to His side
You will find His love sufficient
Forever you will hide
Not in darkness
Not in pain
But in the blood of Jesus
In the power of His name
