    SPIRIT-FILLED

    The wind was strong and whipped the trees;

    Blew limbs around with apparent ease.

    The clouds were dark, with blackened scowl,

    And quickly fled the wind’s wild howl.

    I stood inside hearing the skirl;

    Watching the madness of the swirl

    Of leaves and branches that twist and prance

    Across the sky in careless dance.

    In awe, I watched the wind’s wild show

    Remembering once, long years ago,

    Disciples fearing futures unknown

    Discouraged, saddened, lost, alone.

    Then in their midst they heard the sound

    Of a mighty wind that swirled around

    'Til soon the room was Spirit-filled

    And all their doubts and fears were stilled.

    They shared their faith, with awesome voice

    In languages of the Spirit’s choice

    Until everyone around had heard

    The Good News Story and understood

    That our Salvation was won through the cross;

    That Jesus lived and Satan had lost.

    Now let my heart be Spirit-filled

    And let my doubts and fears be stilled.

    Give me the courage to share the Story;

    That the Triune God reigns on in glory.
