A MOTHER'S THOUGHTS
We look at our children and we are amazed
That we are a very large part
Of how they were born, and how they are raised,
And how they fill up our whole heart.
They make the sun sparkle with joys that they give,
And bring storms to our lives with their tears.
Their world brightly colored with many a hue
That is painted with love, hope, and fears.
We’re still filled with joy when our children laugh,
And our hearts still break when they cry.
Our desire to take all their problems away
Can be witnessed whenever we sigh.
As we taught our children to read and do math,
They’ve taught us many a new thing.
And we look at the world in different ways
Because of ideas they’d bring.
Each night, when they sleep, we always feel peace.
Though, weary and worn, from day’s cares
We rest with the knowledge that, for now, they are safe
From life’s dangers and problems and snares.
We continue to hold them close in our hearts,
Remembering each laugh, tear and sigh.
We watch as they grow and we know all along
How fast are the years flying by.
We must let them be free to live as they choose
But they always remain in our prayers.
We know we have raised them to know right from wrong
And, with us, God loves them and cares.
