    Snip, pin, stitch

    Snip, pin, stitch,
    snip, pin, stitch.
    Hands measuring,
    scissors flying,
    Singer humming.
    Snip, pin, stitch,
    snip, pin, stitch.
    Black cloth,
    white cloth,
    cloth of many colors
    parading under the needle.
    Snip, pin, stitch,
    snip, pin, stitch.
    Bears, monkeys, bats,
    trolls, sailors and fairies
    waiting to be born.
    Snip, pin, stitch,
    snip, pin, stitch.
    Oh, my!
    long strings, short strings
    pieces and pieces of cloth
    laying all over the floor.
    Snip, pin, stitch,
    snip, pin, stitch.
    Finally all is done.

    This made me smile.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
