Secret Love

Secret Love

I look in the mirror I’m decent looking
better yet the s***
I’m not going to let you degrade me,
I’m not a hit and quit
Tell me sweet nothings
when you don’t mean none of it
Sidebar conversation
when you want me to be the other chick
A secret companion you made me out,
didn’t want anybody to find out
It was Jasmine in public,
behind the building conversation
Secret eye contact,
wishy washy translations
A secret love I can not be,
cuz all Its doing is hurting me
pleasurable for you,
but a heartache for me
everything that glitters aint gold,
momma use to preach
now the past is gone,
more will come along
but until your heart is liberated,
I’ll just have to push on

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
