Dont Settle For Nothing Less

Dont Settle For Nothing Less

I know who I am, the mirrors they reflect

You judge my outside before my inside you detect

Judge me in the dark and turn off the lights

If you knew my character, you wouldn’t’ label me at sight

I still haven’t found the person I can be

But I know what I’m not so possibilities I see

My own feet I stand through my own eyes I see

Following is not an option, leadership is in me

Inspire me with love, don’t break me down

Leaving me to looking at the grains on the ground

But Low self esteem I had, confidence I have

judge mentality with me want last

I know what I got and I know what I’ve become

Judge me by my thoughts, now from what I come from

I know my past, the things I have done

Separate me from that, a young woman I’ve become

I done a few things, no major regrets

don’t look at me for that, major goals I set

Erasing ones who don’t want to pull out my best

I aim at the sky, don’t settle for nothing less

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
