    Santa's Short List

Santa brought laughter and Christmas cheer,
but no real JOY was found in his bag_
Santa gave fancy toys to cheerful tots,
but unconditional LOVE was not in his bag_
Santa brought a truce to fighting,
but no lasting PEACE was in his bag_
    Santa cruised through the 'hood,
without a shred of HOPE in his bag_
Santa visited the sick, the suffering,
    the grieved, the broken-hearted,
but no gift of HEALING was in his bag_
    On his way back home,
    Santa sailed by the graveyard,
    ignoring souls departed__
    for LIFE ETERNAL
will never be in his bag.

another great write! I love how you use Santa, which has commercialized the true meaning of Christmas.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
