    ECHOES OF THE PAST

Our past is a point of time
etched on a block of memory
     and filed away orderly
in a corner of our mind,
    an open archive where
    we must not daily dwell.

    Our past is a lesson in history;
    if we've learned from it,
    then in the future
    we should do well.

     We will be tested
    on those same lessons.
    For our past is spooky_
    like an echo,
    it repeats itself
    after a spell.

I like this poem. It is the truth. History repeats itself and memories of the past prevent us from making the same mistakes twice.

I enjoyed this poem, so true can our past come back to haunt us. nice!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
