ROAD TO SALVATION

Poem Commentary

When God began to call me and I chose to ignore Him. There became a void in me. I attempted to fill it by first focusing on me....making everything abut me. Realizing I was broken beyond measure. So then I turned to family that failed me also. Next, I thought I could fill the void by entertaining all my flesh desired....everything it could lust or long for. I was totally deceived. I was truly LOST. Finally I allowed Christ to come in and guide me, lead me, help me, deliver me, SAVE me. Thank you JESUS!

ROAD TO SALVATION

On a much needed journey to find some peace...I packed my bags and hit the streets. Now in this bag I packed faith, love and an open mind because the peace I was searching for was one of a kind. I went down a road that was once named Self but it had been so demolished until there was nothing left. So I turned the corner and went down Family Street but found disappointment in every person I could meet. I really needed to get away so I caught a bus and headed for a town that was called Lust.
Now in this town nothing was what it seemed to be. I became so lost, no way out I could see. Then one day I met a friend that I thought I left behind. He asked me to walk a step or two with Him and peace I will find. I told Him, "I've traveled this whole world and nothing good have I found. So how can I find peace when I haven't left this town?" My friend reached out, touched me and said, "Where you are I have been. Just open up and let me in". So I reached in my bag and grabbed an opened mind just to see if this friend was really one of a kind.
Now the road was rough but my motives were pure and then the world cast a lure. Pulled me for a little while off my path but I needed to know my friend was still there. Once again He found me. As I took His hand He said, "Let me be your map, your map of the land." I walked daily with my friend and mysteries were revealed to me, mysteries of men. Throughout our journey faith was taken out of my bag and it brought along many gifts, more precious than I've ever had! I began to trust, love and obey my friend. He touched me and said, "I'm with you until the end." So if you ever get lost in the things of the world, stand still, don't get on a bus. Just call on my friend. His name is.....

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
