Poem Commentary

This poem is about my husband. He was the knight that accepted me for who I am. I was the light at the end of the tunnel that accepted him for who he could be. Unfortunately it did not work out. Love can be tricky like that. Some people fear what they don't understand...and unconditional love is hard to understand. Because most people think that if something seems to good to be true it probably is. Not so! True love is true and does exist. The question is can you accept it when it knocks at your heart?

IN THE ARMS OF MY KNIGHT

I was finally rescued by my knight in shiny armor. He has rescued me from the loneliness of day. Now I am free to think...free to long...free to be me. My mind is constantly entangled with thoughts of him. I can now put a name and a face to what was once only a pigment of my imagination. I can see him reaching out with his masculine but gentle hands summoning me to come unto him. I can feel him pull me closer. He embraces me tightly. I can feel the rhythm of his pounding heart. So I lay my head into his chest because that's the song I want to hear. I respond by placing my arms around him signifying a giving of myself. Assuring him that time stands still for us           I began to look up at my hero wanting to never forget his face. But then his eyes meet mine. I'm hypnotized or better yet captivated by what I see. His eyes are a tunnel to his heart. Through the darkest part of the tunnel I saw hurt, disappointment, anger, fear and pain. I began to look deeper. There appeared to be a little light at the end of the tunnel. I looked closer and there was this reflection. A reflection of what his eyes were seeing. It was me! It was then that I saw a hunger in his eyes, a want in his eyes...for this moment to never end....for this feeling to never end. I drew closer so that he can look into my eyes and see my realness and that I too longed to the same things. Time yet stood still as that embrace lasted forever.

“I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you.” ~Roy Croft Love is an emotion that exist outside the bounds of logic, uninfluenced by the ideas of science and one of the holy sanctifications of faith; a depth unending and infallible. To find that part of your soul that lacks in wholeness is a gift of God to warm you on cold nights, guide you through the fog of uncertainty and lift you from the pits of despair.

your knight has come and true love has no bounds no fences and will last for all of time . I knew that kind of love till mine was taken by death . Great poem loved every word Marie

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
