RISE LIKE THE PHOENIX
So far down, from where I need to be
I must rise like the Phoenix
there's no other way for me
To start from almost nothing, again
to build myself up, to do what I can
to see it all through, like you my friend
If you succeeded, then so can I
You followed west, to the setting sun
what was it you were running to, or from?
Perhaps I too, must give it a try
Back in the day, when life was easy
so much easier than it is now
There was a time, when I stood with ease
I could stand tall, because I knew how
When it was only me, that I had to please
If I had only done, what I knew was right
yet it seems so slow, to do what I must
It would be so easy, to quit in disgust
just as the end, was nearly in sight
But the strength I need, is inside of me
yet they all say, what will be, will be
If others can win, then so can I
It's obvious you can't win
if you never really try
Every choice we make, does affect our life
you can't go back, only forward will work
There is no chore, you can afford to shirk
you must carry on, in spite of the strife
If only I were like you
unafraid to follow the sun
Knowing what you wanted, all those years
without really knowing what might come
Then I could put aside all my fears
Perhaps then it could be
but only time will let us see
that I may finally win
and rise from the ashes
just like the Phoenix, again
