    Remember

    Do you remember?

     Remember when we first met

Not this year or the last but long ago in the past

Not in this life but another where we were born to be together

A time when kings ruled the land

And my only thought was to hold your hand

Protecting you was not a job but an honor given by God

     Do you remember?

Remember riding side by side under the starlit sky

The moon so full and bright would show your beauty

    Oh what a sight

With hair of gold and eyes of blue

I could think of nothing but you

We rode and we rode all through the night

    Without a worry insight

As the dawn was nearing we entered the clearing

And the sun broke through the night we could finally see the light

You stopped your horse and dismounted the steed

I helped you down and bowed to one knee

You told me to stand that there was no need

For we would be one you and me

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
