    Reconstitution

    This morning felt
    like frozen hell
    lying next to the place
    your body used to fill.
    And now Im
    speaking softly to the air.
    No replies. Theres noone there.
I reach my arm across the bed
    to find her only...
to find her only in my head.

    I apologize
    that the smoke
    gets in your eyes.
    Leaving you breathless,
    i won't let you finish a sentence
    then I...
    I realized,
taht the smoke has clouded mine.
And i cant see clearly through
    this young
    and scattered mind.

    I let you down
    when i swore I'd be
    the ground to catch you
    when you fell from
    the highest cloud.
    But i cant just live
    in what has been
    because my mind
    is wearing thin.
So, I gather up my sins
    and catch a ride
    to the Settle Inn.

    Stripped now
    of my vest i stand
    opened arms and bare chested
    begging for the bullets
    i deserve them
    i was so foolish.
    I did not build
    this monument
    to come crashing down
    on my front steps.
    but now its here
    i have nothing to fear
besides this heart inside my chest
    and it SCREAMS.

    At least we know
    we wont die alone
    as the bodies pile up
    waiting to be taking home...
So, I slide up to the bar.
Take a hit from my cigar.
No more wondering where I am.
No more wondering where you are.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
