    Reality Check

    Flickering Lights,Droopy Shadows
A Man cries as the wind blows
Worldly Riches with a lost soul
A Summer forecasts nothing but the cold
    Dead now,but living old
    Bitter smiles has hearts froze
Blocked prayers causes life to weep
As the world turns, while we're still asleep
Looking for an exit but trapped to deep
Burnt society feels like hell under my feet
    Perceptions blinding whats real
The future lingers as the present stands still
Broke systems paying for trained kills
A world full of people ran by dollar bills
Mixed feelings often divide a nation
Happiness can only be found in one's imagination
Detours always seem to block my destination
Disease and Destruction tickles my sensations
    Lies precede to wrong directions
Still casting stones due to complexion
Hatred spirits often break the connection
Viewing the children of God as the infection
Baggy jeans lead to Racial Profiling
I remember Lauryn singing about Zion
Lets mend the loose ends, and fly- in as friends
Before the fat lady sings and time starts to end
Dreaming of one day to live again
While here though, All we do is sin
We will trade in our friends for a new benz
As long as it has a sunroof and some nice rims
Bright futures but yet so dim
Trying to lead the lives portrayed on film
You know its the same old thang
New shoes, New watch, Bling Bling
    What about Dr. King's Dream
New history made, but I can't hear freedom ring
Ladies you say if isn't fair, What do you care?
Only thing you like is drama, gossip, and your hair
Outside look fine but inside all ugly
Perfume smells good but your scent is still Musty
Love dating athletes not men who study
Saying I know he treats me wrong, But I know he loves me
See it wont be funny when he gets another honey
Depressed state of mind cause you realized he was phony
Singing the blues cause you lonely, And to my men. or better yet my hommies
Be a real man stop being a wanna-be
As for me im tryin to increase the peace
See I know you got a piece but your mind is still out of Reach
Just because you do the right thing doesn't mean that your weak
Cant remember what the teacher taught or the pastor preached
Cause most of the time we in the back snoring sleep
See life is always filled with daily tests, Just do your best
Start chasing your dreams instead of the girl in the dress
Not attracted to her mind but more of her fake breasts
So take this warning if you feel like your life is in Debt
You can cash it in today, Here take it, Its a Reality Check

Long poem. Did'nt have time to read it all. Good structure. Nice job centering it. Did'nt really understand the ending though.

now you did that. It is an excellent write..thanks or sharing

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
