Ready To Walk

Poem Commentary

This is a poem i wrote in support of all the walks and 5K runs that will be held this month all to raise breast cancer awareness, to cheer on those who have fought the fight Survivors and lost friends. Hope and faith will steer us to an eventual cure

Ready To Walk

Once again we meet here

in this special place

Where tears and smiles are shared

I can see them line your face

Many familiar faces  seen

  from a crowd

They reappear

So happy to share this day with you

And I am glad that we’re all here

Somewhere out there is a cure

With each step we take

We are getting a little closer

Let there be no mistake

We take our steps quite seriously

As heartfelt as they may be

We take strides for each other

Toward a world that’s cancer free

I am here to honor heroes

so happy to be with friends

Amidst those glowing faces

And a pink sea that transcends

Far beyond the feelings

And closer to the heart

Walking and racing for a cure

We are all here to do our part

We bow our heads in silence

To honor fond memories

Of those who have taken us this far

To eradicate disease

Each day we are getting closer

A wave of optimism touches our shore

Proud to be here amongst true friends

As we walk and we race for a cure

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
