Poem Commentary

This was the third in the three part song series that I composed for my friend - the very talented and incomparable Megan White.
It was born in June of 2008 in Astoria, Queens, NY and later finished in Little Falls , NY.

"Binary Love"

"Binary Love"

Verse 1:
Tonight - I'm caught up in the magic that is you.
A cataclysmic variable in a binary love-
Coming in so clear.
To my personal burning satellite with the neverending energy -
You're both the melody of my heart
And the heart of the melody.

Chorus 1 and 2:
Because I have never seen -
The sky so bright as you would have it to appear tonight.

Verse 2:
Aside from being fixed inside your gravitational pull.
In orbit to be locked beside my primary love.
Holding me so near.
To the one that I'd love to no end in sight -
Here's a kiss for both your head and cheeks.
As your dwarfed heart radiates it back to me.

Interlude:
No haste to shine-
I told you darling the wait was really killing me.

Chorus 3:
Your eyes - they have a sheer
Beauty inside - that doesn't lie.
As you would have me to believe tonight.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
