Puppets

Puppets

trapped in an unruly game
played by gods
as though we are puppets
pulling at our strings of shame
they express amusement with no smile
as we dance to their harmony
like puppets, pulling our strings
only played with for a while
unease evades them
as we attempt to escape the strings
we found a way out
but not before they condem
like puppets we smile artificially
we preform on our stage
we are trapped in this game
the order is judicially
there is no escaping this game
like puppets we are tied
we participate in this sadness
played by gods filled with flame
trapped in this game of life
no turning left, no turning right
never winning or overcoming our strife
we are puppets of this life

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
