Biography

Thomas Reginald Bridges

Thomas Reginald Bridges was born October 7,. He is the son of James and Ida B. Bridges and was reared by his mother. He is a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Cumberland County.

Thomas is an ordained Gospel Minister and is employed by the Autism Society of North Carolina. Thomas attended the Cape Fear High School, the Academy of Business Careers, Washington, DC, the Carolina Bible College, and the Christian Outreach Bible College. Thomas has an Associates Degree in Christian Education. He plans to complete his education at Methodist College, majoring in writing with a minor in religion.

Thomas has come to grips with his true purpose for life of which he is so proud. It all has been a great miracle. He has been called to be a writer not just for his home town but to the nations. This has been an exciting feel to the ear as well as to his heart. Thomas was summoned to be a writer about twelve years ago but did not understand his call. While sitting in the presence of God, Pastor Christopher Hunt called him out from the audience and gave him a word of knowledge. Pastor Hunt asked him if he wrote or if he wrote songs. Thomas’s response to him was, “No, I sing a little.” Pastor Hunt went on to say, “I see you holding a pad and pen, in the Spirit.” He also said, “God said that you would make a wealthy living writing.” Then ten years later, Pastor Kenneth Kelly confirmed what was told to Thomas: “God has said that you will write to many nations, several times.”

Therefore, Thomas has four books pending for publication: As Sleeping Talents Awake: ; The Mud Cloth; Syllabic Utterances; and Raped by Separation and Divorce. His poems include: In Baghdad; I Must Write; Handle Them with Care; Vietnam; Given in Great Struggle; Great Minds; Greater Than Shakespeare; God Working through Mama; She Cried for Forty Days; and many more…

Thomas has been named among the two hundred better poets for 2003, 2004, 2005 and has been listed in Who’s Who with the International Library of Poetry.

One of Thomas’s dearest friends is his pen…

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
