Pink Roses Rested In Her Hands

    "UPA GUESS WHO CHALLENGE"

she was born in L.A., California
    near the vast Pacific Ocean
her mother was insane .. gave her away
no dad to be seen .. nor heard of
she'd the most innocent blue eyes
copper blond hair .. poor young lass
    how was she to know
she'd become a mere plaything in life
her nude pictures appeared in a gentleman's magazine
most desired pin-up girl .. ever in the world
    every mans dream fantasy
she'd modeled .. played roles in film
her unique, feminine beauty scorched the silver screen
she'd married James .. then Joe .. and Arthur
    none were to stay
    formed her own production company
filmed "Bus Stop" in Phoenix, Arizona
moved to New York .. red carpets galore
    she's remembered well
high heel stuck in a sidewalk grate
her skirt .. the wind had blown .. high above her head
    cameras flashed incessantly
she sexily sang her own version
an intimate 40th Happy Birthday for the President
she'd dated the likes of Marlon Brando and Milton Berle
Sinatra had given her emerald earrings
shared her last birthday at Trader Vic's
when last seen she was exquisitely adorned
In a green Pucci dress .. green scarf about her neck
before leaving .. she'd received a tender, loving kiss
pink roses rested in her hands

Glad you enjoyed, Rita....this challenge write I attempted to shed mostly positive light upon our dear, sweet Marilyn, even though she'd a tarnished image many have no idea of....Ty, Bear

Marilyn Monroe. I enjoyed this one greatly. Lets you think about her last days before her death. ty

Yes, she was a living doll and forever a legend, even though she hit bottom on occasion during her highlighted, brief life. ty

wow...I'm really amaze by your narration because it holds attention,,,love it,,,this is image is sooo poetic...Her skirt .. the wind had blown .. high above her head...i love the irony again...from the first I kind of think that the lass' fate will be just like an ordinary whore...and then she rose to stardom and i kind of expect that she will maintain it and then comes the surprising end...It made me realize that our childhood experience somewhat dictates our life later on...on her case, she didn't escape from it...Oh my gosh SB...thanks for this entertaining poem...I like Marilyn though,,,^_^ v

Marilyn Monroe was definitely one of a kind! Thank you for visiting and leaving such great comments!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
